BNN Astrology in Kundlistar: Chart Comparison & New Tools
Explore Kundlistar BNN astrology: chart comparison, Major vs Minor progression, Karaka Connections, Topic Calendar and Premium access explained.
By Kundlistar Astrology Team
BNN astrology in Kundlistar helps you study a birth chart through planetary significations, sign relationships and progression. Four connected views—Chart Comparison, Karaka Connections, Topic Calendar and Consultation View—make that process easier to follow. You can compare natal and progressed positions, trace a selected planet's relationships and explore topic-based connection windows.
This guide explains what each view does, how to read its labels and how to use the information thoughtfully. The same core BNN workflow is included in Kundlistar and Kundlistar Studio, with layouts adapted for web and mobile.
The new BNN features at a glance
| BNN section | What it shows | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Chart Comparison | Your natal chart beside a chart using the selected Major or Minor progression | To see which supported planetary positions change for a date |
| Karaka Connections | Connections from a selected planet in the natal and progressed charts | To understand relationship numbers and compare connection patterns |
| Topic Calendar | Twelve monthly groups of calculated connection windows for a selected topic | To identify periods worth examining more closely |
| Consultation View | Comparison, connections and calendar information together | To review a topic in one place during study or a consultation |
Each section answers a different question. Start with the chart, inspect the connections and then use the calendar to explore dates.
What is BNN astrology?
BNN stands for Bhrigu Nandi Nadi, an approach to astrology that studies planets through their significations and relationships with other planets. A planetary significator is commonly called a karaka. For example, Kundlistar uses Saturn as the focus planet for the Career topic and Jupiter for the Children topic.
A BNN reading considers a network of relationships rather than turning one placement into a complete conclusion. The topic, reference planet, sign relationships and progression setting all affect what you are examining.
Kundlistar's BNN software presents these relationships visually and through labelled rows. The new views organise the existing BNN calculations; they do not introduce a separate set of prediction rules. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing this guide with another astrology application or teaching tradition.
Chart Comparison: understand natal and progressed positions
Chart Comparison places the natal chart and the selected BNN progression side by side. The natal chart provides the birth-position reference. The progressed chart shows the supported positions calculated for your chosen date and progression setting.
Choose a topic, select a date and confirm whether the progression control says Major or Minor. Position summaries below the charts show the relevant planet's natal sign and degree alongside its progressed sign and degree.
Which planets move in this progression view?
In these BNN comparison views, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu use the selected progression. The other displayed planets retain their natal positions.
This explains why the right-hand chart can look partly familiar even when the date changes. It is a view combining supported BNN progressed positions with fixed natal references. It is not a display in which every planet moves to its astronomical transit position on that date.
What does “Changed” mean?
A “Changed” label means that the displayed sign or degree differs from the natal reference. It does not mean a life event has happened or that a result is certain.
For example, a progressed planet can move within the same sign. Its degree changes even though its sign relationship with another planet remains the same. Read the position summary and connection list together.
The Day, Month and Year controls help you move the selected date forward or backward. Use them to compare nearby dates while keeping the same progression setting.
Major vs Minor progression in BNN: what is the difference?
Major and Minor are different BNN progression cycles. The date controls are navigation buttons. Changing the date by one month does not switch the chart from Major to Minor.
| Control or label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Major | Uses the supported planet's Major progression position for the selected date |
| Minor | Uses its Minor progression position within the current Major period |
| + Day or − Day | Moves the selected date by one day |
| + Month or − Month | Moves the selected date by one month |
| + Year or − Year | Moves the selected date by one year |
| Today | Returns the selected date to the current date |
In Kundlistar's BNN calculation, Minor progression restarts from the current Major period's starting point and sign. Its sign intervals follow the planet-specific progression rules. “Minor” does not mean “move the chart by one calendar month.”
For a useful comparison, change one input at a time. First keep the date fixed and compare Major with Minor. Then keep the chosen cycle fixed and examine different dates. Always check the progression control before interpreting the progressed chart.
Karaka Connections: trace relationships from a selected planet
Karaka Connections shows how a selected planet relates to other planets in the natal and progressed charts. Selecting a topic supplies its default karaka. You can then select another planet to trace that planet's connections.
For instance, selecting Children sets Jupiter as the topic karaka. A row such as Jupiter → Moon · 9 · 1–5–9 describes a specific relationship:
- Jupiter is the selected reference planet.
- Moon is the connected planet.
- 9 means the Moon is ninth by sign from Jupiter, counting Jupiter's sign as the first.
- 1–5–9 is the relationship family containing that position.
The number 9 is not automatically the ninth house from the ascendant. It is also not a nine-month waiting period or a prediction date.
What do the connection colours mean?
| Relationship family | Display colour | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5–9 | Green | Primary connections in this view |
| 3–7–11 | Blue | Secondary connections in this view |
| 2–12 | Orange | Indirect connections in this view |
These colours identify connection classes. They are not a good-result, bad-result or probability scale. A green line does not guarantee success, and an orange line does not announce a negative event.
Other relative positions are not included as active connections in this particular circuit. An empty list means no matching connection is displayed under those criteria, rather than a complete absence of relevance in the person's life.
What do “New connections” and “Previous connections” mean?
These lists compare the natal pattern with the progressed pattern. A planet can appear under a new connection because its relative relationship changed, even if it was already connected in the natal chart.
For example, suppose Venus is second from the selected planet in the natal view and fifth from it in the progressed view. Venus has changed relationship families; it has not become connected for the first time in every possible sense.
Use the two lists alongside the chart positions. This makes the difference between a new planet connection and a changed connection type easier to understand.
Why does a selected sign sometimes show a dash?
Selecting a sign lets you inspect the planets occupying that sign in each view. A dash means there are no listed planets there for that view. An empty sign is not a standalone prediction about the topic.
The sign details may also show an ascendant-based house number. Keep that house label separate from the relative sign count used in a connection row.
Topic Calendar: explore BNN connection windows
Topic Calendar groups calculated connection windows into twelve months, beginning with the month of your selected date. It helps you find intervals that deserve a closer look without manually checking every day.
Choose a topic and a progression cycle first. The calendar then compares supported progressed planets with the natal karaka for that topic.
That reference matters. Karaka Connections compares relationships within the displayed natal or progressed chart. Topic Calendar examines a progressed planet against a fixed natal topic karaka. The two views can answer related questions without showing identical lists.
How to read a calendar entry
A calendar entry identifies the progressing planet, the natal topic karaka, their relative sign relationship and the calculated date interval.
For example, an entry linking progressed Jupiter with natal Saturn is a connection to examine within the Career topic. It does not, by itself, say “promotion confirmed.”
Calendar intervals use daily calculations. Adjacent matching dates are grouped into windows; the view does not establish an exact event time within a day.
The displayed end date is excluded. A hypothetical window from 10 November to 15 November includes 10–14 November. The 15th is the boundary after that window. This example explains the date convention and is not a reading for a particular chart.
Open a window in Chart Comparison
Use the entry's comparison action to inspect its starting date in Chart Comparison. Review the positions, selected progression and relevant connections before drawing an astrological interpretation.
A calendar window is a starting point for study, not an appointment with a guaranteed future event. A month without a matching window does not establish that nothing important can happen.
Consultation View: bring the evidence together
Consultation View combines chart comparison, planetary connections and topic calendar information in one section. It is useful when you want to follow one question from the natal reference through progression and date windows.
For example, you can review a Career question by checking the selected cycle, examining Saturn-related connections and opening relevant calendar intervals. Keeping these views together makes it easier to explain which observations support an interpretation.
The individual submenus remain useful for focused study. Open Chart Comparison for positions, Karaka Connections for relationship tracing and Topic Calendar for date exploration. Use Consultation View when the combined context helps you follow the reading.
Which topics and karakas can you explore?
The topic selector in these views uses the following mappings:
| Topic | Default karaka in Kundlistar |
|---|---|
| Career | Saturn |
| Education | Mercury |
| Marriage | Venus |
| Children | Jupiter |
| Property | Moon |
| Finance | Venus |
| Foreign travel | Rahu |
| Spirituality | Ketu |
These are the software's topic-focus mappings. They do not mean that one planet alone determines every aspect of that subject.
Selecting Marriage, for example, focuses the workflow on Venus. Selecting Children focuses it on Jupiter. A reader can still inspect other planets in Karaka Connections to understand the wider relationship pattern.
A practical example: explore a Career question
Suppose you want to study the astrological context around a possible change of role. This is a workflow example, not a prediction for a real person.
1. Establish the natal reference
Open the birth chart and select Career in the BNN section. Confirm that the topic karaka is Saturn. Check the birth details and chart settings before comparing dates, particularly if you are comparing results with another chart.
2. Choose a date and progression
Select the date you want to examine. If Minor is selected, read the progressed chart as Minor progression for that date. Moving forward by one year keeps that selection until you change the progression control.
3. Inspect positions and connections
In Chart Comparison, note which supported positions differ from the natal chart. Then open Karaka Connections and trace Saturn.
Read each connection row in full: reference planet, connected planet, relative count and relationship family. If a connection changes from 2–12 to 1–5–9, record that as a change in the displayed pattern. Avoid translating it immediately into a promised job offer.
4. Check the calendar reference
Open Topic Calendar with Career selected. Its windows show progressed planets in relation to natal Saturn. Choose an interval and open its comparison view to investigate the positions around that date.
5. Keep the interpretation grounded
Use Consultation View to review the evidence together. A useful study note might say: “This period shows a different set of Saturn-related connections under Minor progression and merits closer chart review.”
Real career choices also depend on skills, applications, employer decisions and circumstances. Use astrology as a reflective perspective alongside those practical factors.
How to use the new BNN sections in Kundlistar
- Open or create your kundli. Begin with the birth chart you want to study.
- Open BNN. Choose the relevant section from its submenu.
- Select one topic. Confirm its default karaka.
- Set the date and progression. Check both before interpreting the display.
- Compare the chart positions. Identify what changes and what remains natal.
- Trace the connections. Read the relative numbers and relationship families.
- Explore calendar windows. Open relevant entries for a closer comparison.
- Review the combined context. Use Consultation View when you need the information together.
On the web, the BNN submenus separate these modules so you can work with one selected section at a time. The mobile layout also provides focused sections. Nakshatra remains a separate BNN section at the end of the submenu order.
Are these BNN features available with Premium?
The new BNN views are Premium features. They are part of the Premium BNN workflow in Kundlistar and Kundlistar Studio, rather than unrestricted free tools.
Eligible trial access may also apply under the respective product's rules. Kundlistar supports BNN premium trial credits, while Studio can provide access during an active trial. Availability through a trial depends on the account and the access flow shown in the product.
For regular use, check the current subscription options on the Kundlistar upgrade page. The plan and eligibility shown in your account are the appropriate reference for access.
Common mistakes when reading BNN charts
- Treating a relative sign number as a natal house. Count from the selected reference planet for connection rows.
- Confusing progression with transit. These views use the selected BNN progression and retain several natal positions.
- Changing multiple controls at once. Compare one date, topic or progression setting at a time.
- Reading colours as promises. Colours label relationship families.
- Assuming every calendar entry must match the circuit. Check whether the reference is a progressed planet or the natal topic karaka.
- Ignoring the window boundary. The displayed end date is excluded.
- Treating a connection as a complete prediction. Review the broader chart and the person's circumstances.

Frequently asked questions about Kundlistar BNN
What does BNN stand for in astrology?
BNN stands for Bhrigu Nandi Nadi. Kundlistar's BNN tools help you study planetary significations, sign relationships and progression, with visual views for comparison, connections and topic-based date exploration.
What are the four new BNN sections?
The four sections are Chart Comparison, Karaka Connections, Topic Calendar and Consultation View. They organise natal-versus-progressed charts, planetary relationship tracing, calculated connection windows and combined review.
How can I tell whether a chart uses Major or Minor progression?
Read the progression control. If Minor is selected, the progressed chart uses Minor progression for the chosen date. The Day, Month and Year buttons change the date without selecting a different cycle.
Do all planets move in the BNN progressed chart?
No. Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu use the selected progression in these views. Other displayed planets retain their natal positions, so this is not an all-planet transit chart.
What does Jupiter → Moon · 9 · 1–5–9 mean?
It means the Moon is ninth by sign from the selected Jupiter reference and belongs to the 1–5–9 connection family. It does not automatically mean the natal ninth house or a nine-month interval.
Are green BNN connections always favourable?
Green marks the primary 1–5–9 connection family in this view. The colour alone does not establish a favourable result, an event probability or a guaranteed outcome.
Why can Topic Calendar and Karaka Connections show different relationships?
Topic Calendar compares progressed planets with the natal topic karaka. Karaka Connections traces relationships within the displayed natal or progressed chart. Check the reference used in each section before comparing their lists.
Can BNN Topic Calendar predict an exact marriage or childbirth date?
The calendar displays calculated relationship windows, not confirmed life-event dates. Marriage and family-related interpretations require wider context; a connection alone cannot establish an exact event or a medical conclusion.
Are the new BNN tools free?
They are Premium features. Eligible Kundlistar premium trial credits or an active Studio trial may provide limited access under the applicable product rules. Check the access options shown in your account.
Does Consultation View use different BNN rules?
No. Consultation View brings the comparison, connection and calendar information together. It provides a combined reading layout rather than a separate prediction method.
Can I use these BNN sections on web and mobile?
The BNN workflow is included across Kundlistar and Kundlistar Studio web and mobile surfaces. Open a birth chart, enter BNN and select the section you need. Access depends on your account's plan or trial eligibility.
